17.5 Flats Skiff

My newest design, a super-lightweight technical poling skiff, perfect for long durations of poling and extreme shallow areas.

Custom Flats Boat

This super-lightweight 17.5 flats boat has excellent maneuverability and pointing capabilities. It’s easily propelled through the water, whether under motor or poling power.

Harrison Boatworks 17.5′ Flats Boats were designed to run in shallow water, be easily poled for long durations and require low horsepower. What this flats skiff has that others don’t is added stability, both on the poling platform and the bow deck. This is achieved with a slightly greater beam.

The combination of tunnel and recessed transom allows this boat to get on a plane quickly in very shallow water.

The Harrison Boatworks 17.5′ Flats Skiff has a more aggressive bottom than other flats boats, which gives it a far more comfortable ride in a chop. Basically a scaled-down version of my 28′ bottom, it has a deeper forefoot and more deadrise than traditional flats skiffs. Its greater beam and the deadrise progression from the transom to the forefoot give it a more efficient running bottom; therefore it requires less horsepower for its size.

Options range from a basic utility/flats skiff with a minimal horsepower package of 25 hp, 2-stroke with a tiller to a 40 to 70 hp, 4-stroke with center or side console steering options. Bowdeck and afterdeck sizes are up to the individual owner. Other options include hydraulic jackplate, bowdeck casting platform, poling platform customizations, under-gunnel rod storage and fish boxes/live wells in transom sponsons.

This is not a production boat. Each skiff is crafted by hand and customized to the owner’s specifications.
